Google Workspace as your company's hub, not just email
A pattern that keeps repeating
A company buys Google Workspace for email. A few years later it's also paying for Slack for chat, a separate calendar tool, and passwords into a dozen internal apps — even though Workspace already does all of this, and the company is paying for it either way.
You don't have to fix all of it at once. Fix whatever hurts most first.
Case 1: email and calendar
A vehicle dealership with 90 employees across 15 branches had years of email history scattered across more than 100 separate mailboxes. We migrated the whole history into Gmail and rolled out Google Calendar company-wide — now it's visible at a glance who has what, when, and who's available, something that used to take a phone call or a Slack message.
Case 2: chat
A company with 112 employees (photovoltaics sales and installation) had used Google Workspace for years, but only partially — alongside it, they paid for Slack, which did exactly what Google Chat already could. We migrated channels and members via the Chat API, dry-run first, then a single channel, then everyone.
Result: one paid subscription fewer, communication in one place.
Case 3: passwordless login
The same company also needed to solve login for internal apps. Instead of one more password to remember, we set up Google SSO — an employee signs in once through their company Google account, and that same sign-in opens the other apps. One fewer password to leak, one account to revoke when someone leaves instead of ten.
Case 4: identity as the automation backbone
Once a company has a Workspace account as a person's unambiguous identity, you can build what happens after login on top of it. That's exactly what we did for the vehicle dealer from case 1 — setting up a new hire's access dropped from tens of minutes to under a minute, tied to their Workspace account instead of being set up one system at a time by hand.
Where to start
You don't need to do everything at once. It usually pays to start wherever the company is paying twice for the same thing (chat, calendar), and tackle identity (SSO, access automation) once Workspace is genuinely the hub, not just a mailbox.
If your company is paying for a tool alongside Workspace that does the same job — tell us what's slowing you down.
